Description
All pieces are made by hand in my Easthampton, Massachusetts studio. Each piece begins as white stoneware clay. First, the clay is thrown by hand on the potter’s wheel, forming the shape. For mugs and other items with handles, a coil of clay is joined to the side, and methodically pulled to form a smooth, comfortable handle. Following a bisque firing in the kiln, the piece is hand-decorated using a combination of hand-drawn underglaze transfer and slip-painting. Then the piece is hand-dipped in a clear glaze and fired once more in the kiln to make the finished product.
