These handmade ceramic ornaments are made to brighten your tree, hang on a wall year round, or gift to a friend. This piece of ceramic art was made by hand in my Easthampton, Massachusetts studio.
Process: Each piece begins as a chunk of white stoneware or porcelain clay. For these ornaments I roll a slab of clay and cut the desired shape before cutting the holes for hanging, slowly drying it to keep them flat, and firing. I then decorate the bisque fired piece with colored slips and underglazes for a bright and vibrant surface. These decorative pieces are left unglazed but are fired to cone 6 in my electric kiln for durability. I add a hemp cord hanger after firing, for easy use.
Note: Minor imperfections, variations, and quirks are part of the unique, one-of-a-kind nature of using handmade items.
