Description
This handmade ceramic planter is intended for ease of use to help beautify your desk, shelves, and windowsills. This planter was hand thrown on a potter’s wheel in my Easthampton, Massachusetts studio.
Drainage and plant care: The planter includes drainage holes and a matching saucer for water drainage. To help guard against overwatering, first pour gravel or pebbles into the bottom of the planter, before adding soil.
Process: Each piece begins as white stoneware clay. First, the clay is thrown by hand on the potter’s wheel, forming the shape. Following a bisque firing in the kiln, the piece is hand-decorated using a combination of hand-drawn underglaze transfer and slip-painting. Then the piece is hand-dipped in a clear glaze and fired once more in the kiln to make the finished product.
Note: Plant not included. Minor imperfections, variations, and quirks are part of the unique, one-of-a-kind nature of using handmade items.
