Description
This handmade ceramic hanging planter is intended for ease of use to help beautify your home. This planter was hand thrown on a potter’s wheel in my Easthampton, Massachusetts studio. The planter includes a black waxed cotton cord, pre-tied and ready to hang. The cord is approximately 17-18 inches long when hung.
Drainage and plant care: This planter will hold a 2″ potted plant in its plastic container, or it can be filled with soil. The planter does not have drainage holes. To help guard against overwatering, first pour gravel or pebbles into the bottom of the planter, before adding soil. Hang near a sunny window and water sparingly.
Process: Each piece begins as white stoneware clay. First, the clay is thrown by hand on the potter’s wheel, forming the shape. Following a bisque firing in the kiln, the piece is hand-decorated using a combination of hand-drawn underglaze transfer and slip-painting. Then the piece is hand-dipped in a clear glaze and fired once more in the kiln to make the finished product.
Note: Plant not included. Minor imperfections, variations, and quirks are part of the unique, one-of-a-kind nature of using handmade items.
